About "Teamwork Guitar"
Coach Mike Leonard had just retired as the head football coach at Franklin College at the end of the 2019 season, and was looking for another hobby to get immersed in besides his love of fly-fishing and golf. After having bought his first guitar and taken a few lessons, he thought that he would enjoy teaching other beginners, who like him had always wanted to give guitar more than just a try. He came up with the idea of “Teamwork Guitar” as a way to teach a group of people at the same time, where everyone could enjoy learning the beauty of music from each other. In the past three years he has taught over 20 people, ranging from elementary students to retirees.
In these last few years, knowing that he had much more to learn about playing and teaching the guitar, Coach Mike had researched several overnight guitar camps to attend himself so that he could improve his skills, as well as meet others who shared his same passion for guitar. Being a little hesitant about the costs and travel to some of these camps, he had the brain child of hosting his own camp right out the front window of his own home. Coach Mike had run many football camps over the years on campus at Franklin College, and thought this was the answer; to host his own camp where he would invite some great instructors, and invite guitar enthusiasts from all over to attend for “an extremely reduced price” from the camps he was first looking to attend; thus the creation of “Teamwork Guitar Camp” at Franklin College.
